JayDaYoungan talks growing up in Louisiana and recording “Muddy Situation”

JayDaYoungan grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana, inspired by artists like Kevin Gates and Lil Boosie. The young rapper told The FADER in a recent visit to the office about his writing and recording process, growing up, and the importance of messaging.

"I don't like anyone talking," he explains about the writing and recording process. He admits that the writing process can get emotional. “Sometimes I might be shedding tears writing songs.”

He is also cognizant of the impact his music, and music in general can have on young listeners. "Music... music can change their whole mindset about everything."
