The Fifty Shades movies have been a surprisingly strong source of original music since Beyoncé's rework of "Crazy In Love" was released alongside the franchise's first film in 2015. For the third chapter of the story, Whethan and Dua Lipa joined together for a slot on the star-studded soundtrack with their sultry track "High."
In an email to The FADER, Whethan said the song represents a shift in tone from his previous releases. "I wanted to go in a new direction with this song and I think it show's more of my alternative side," he said. "I've been influenced by a lot of alternative and bedroom pop lately, so It's exciting for me to start to show this new style. This is the first time I've had my song in a movie and I've been waiting for this one to come out for a long time, I hope you're as excited as I am."
