Watch Metatronia, Solange’s new performance art installation
The new art piece mixes sculpture and dance.
Fresh from appearing with Beyoncé at Coachella, Solange has shared a new performance art piece. The multi-discipline Metatronia installation mixes dance and scultpure and is on display at Los Angeles’ Hammer Museum. Dazed notes that it is directed by Solange and choreographed by Gerard & Kelly. She also scored the music with John Kirby. Watch a clip above or find the full video on the Hammer Museum’s website.
“Metatronia explores the process, and mapping of creation,” Solange said in a statement. “The piece is an exercise on following the intuitive force that guides us, helping us to create space, and silence the mind to create the work. Continuing my practices and interest in exploring the relationship of movement and architecture as a meditation, Metatronia centers around building frequency and creating charge through visual storytelling.”
Solange was recently named the 2018 Harvard Foundation Artist of the Year and has revealed that she is currently working on new music.
