Kanye West’s mother’s plastic surgeon responds to West’s controversial album cover idea

“Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love.”

April 30, 2018

Jan Adams, the plastic surgeon who operated on Kanye West's mother the day before she died in November 2007, has responded to West's tweet saying he'd be putting Adams's face on the cover of his upcoming album. The original tweet featured a text conversation in which West said he wanted to "forgive and stop hating," seemingly referring to the doctor's operation the day before his mother's death. In a letter addressed to West and published on The Blast, the doctor asked West to “cease and desist using my photo or any image of me to promote your album or any of your work."

The letter goes on to suggest that West instead put a photo of his cousin, who acted as Donda West's nurse during the surgery, on the cover of the album, referring to a coroner's report which noted the cousin's alleged negligence.

“Perhaps you should put your cousin’s picture on your next album," Adams wrote. "Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love. Love deals with the truth."

In a tweet sharing the letter, West wrote "This is amazing. Thank you so much for this connection brother. I can't wait to sit with you and start healing."
