Tanukichan’s “Lazy Love” video is a solo shoegaze pool party, produced by Toro Y Moi
The Bay Area artist’s debut solo album Sundays is out July 13.
Tanukichan is the shoegaze project of Hannah Van Loon, who came through in 2016 with her debut EP Radiolove. This year she'll share her debut full-length project Sundays, produced by Chaz Bear a.k.a. Toro Y Moi and released on his label Company Records. The video for “Lazy Love,” premiering today on The FADER, is set in one of those summer days when the day is too beautiful to risk ruining it with other people. Loon posts up near a pool, gets lost in her own aqueous reflections, and casts a veil of grinding guitar noise and tranquil, Belinda Butcher-esque melodies.
"'Lazy Love' is a little silly," Loon told The FADER over email. "I'm poking fun at myself for certain ways that I am, e.g. laziness. But when it comes to things I really care about, I can feel immobilized or helplessness about the way that I am. I wanted the song to capture the feeling of those moments."
