Beyoncé in rare interview: “I do love butterflies”

Beyoncé rarely gives interviews. She once famously covered the September issue of Vogue without saying a word. But for art, the singer has made an exception. In honor of her donation of a Glenn Spiro Papillon ring to the William & Judith Bollinger Gallery in London's V&A Museum, she very briefly spoke to British Vogue.

"I do love butterflies," Beyoncé told the magazine. "but the Papillon was something special."

The ring was created by the London jeweler using 326 tsavorites and 342 diamonds. Spiro told British Vogue "She and Jay-Z buy beautiful things. Not just jewelry but also art; they are collectors." He said the decision to donate the ring, originally a gift from JAY-Z, came immediately when the three friends were discussing the contemporary jewelry exhibit while in Los Angeles.

"Yes, diamonds are always a girl’s best friend," Beyoncé continued, adding in an unknown context that she looks for "distinctive jewels" because "they remind me of a special moment."

She did not say anything else.
