Solange was honored at a Parsons benefit in NYC last night, and she pulled up to the event wearing the designs of a Parsons graduate: Shanel Campbell. Her outfit — a sleek long-sleeved, black jumpsuit with peeping cut-outs — had elements of utilitarianism, a concept that is integral to many of Campbell's designs. Her structural silhouettes are often paired with dangling straps and industrial belts, making for womenswear you feel like you could survive the apocalypse wearing.
Solange spoke about the event today, and took a moment to sing Campbell's praises:
"Students like Shanel Campbell, who I wore last night, who are truly continuing to shape and mold the way we see the world, being unafraid, disruptive, working through circumstances and pressures and fears unknown to us....and leading the way as the new faces of fashion music art and design..."
