Kim Kardashian West will meet with Donald Trump at the White House later today, Vanity Fair reports. The meeting was allegedly arranged after "months of back-channel talks between Kim and Jared Kushner."
The meeting is due to take place on Wednesday with Kardashian reported to meet Kushner to discuss prison reform before a further sit down with Trump takes place, likely in the Oval Office. A source familiar with the plans says Kardashian is due to ask Trump to pardon Alice Johnson, a 62-year-old woman serving a life sentence without parole for a first-time drug offense.
Kardashian spoke about Johnson, who has spent 21 years in prison, in a recent interview with Mic. She said she would: "explain to [Trump] that, just like everybody else, we can make choices in our lives that we’re not proud of and that we don’t think through all the way.”
It is claimed that Kardashian will not be bringing a camera crew for her reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and that Kanye West will not be there wither. The report adds that "there have been talks about him [Kanye] making a White House appearance of his own at a later, to-be-determined date."
Kardashian is believed to have come across Johnson's case on Twitter earlier this year. She reportedly contacted Ivanka Trump, who put her in contact with Kushner.
On Wednesday September 5, Kim Kardashian visited the White House again to talk prison reform, as TMZ reports.
KKW was reportedly at the White House on behalf of Chris Young, a black man from Tennessee who is serving a life sentence for cocaine and marijuana possession. Young has served over 10 years in prison, and Kim K is reportedly looking to work toward his freedom. Also in attendance, TMZ points out, were Van Jones, Jared Kushner, and Kevin Sharp, the judge who sentenced Young.
