Cardi B will open the VMAs
Cardi’s back.
With the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards just days away, Cardi B has been announced as the evening's opening act. On Wednesday, the VMAs Twitter account revealed that the "Bodak Yellow" singer would open the show on August 20; the VMAs will mark Cardi's first performance since the birth of her baby Kulture in July.
Cardi also leads all nominated artists at this year's awards show, earning 10 nominations in total, including best video and best new artist.
Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Nicki Minaj, and Jennifer Lopez have also been confirmed as performers during the VMAs. The VMAs will air live from Radio City Music Hall on August 20 at 8 p.m. EST.
On Friday, Cardi announced via Instagram stories that she will not actually perform during the VMAs, saying that she will just be opening the show.
