Dave Chappelle and Colin Kaepernick were two of eight people honored by Harvard University's Hutchins Center for African and African American Research on Thursday, THR points out. The pair were both awarded the W.E.B. DuBois Medal.
According to the Hutchins Center, "The medal honors those who have made significant contributions to African and African-American history and culture, and more broadly, individuals who advocate for intercultural understanding and human rights in an increasingly global and interconnected world."
Honorees apart from Chappelle and Kaepernick include artist Kehinde Wiley among others. The medal ceremony will take place on October 11 at Sander's Theatre, Memorial Hall in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
