Missy Elliott becomes first woman rapper to be nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame
If Missy is elected, she’ll become the third rapper ever to do so.
Missy Elliott has been nominated for the Songwriters Hall of Fame class of 2019, Variety reports. The nomination makes Elliott the first rapper who is a woman to be considered for the honor. Missy received the nod alongside Mariah Carey, The Eurythmics, and Mike Love of The Beach Boys, among others. If Elliott is to be elected, she will become the third ever rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, joining JAY-Z, and Jermaine Dupri.
The Songwriters HoF ceremony will take place next June in New York City.
