Mariah Carey stopped by The Tonight Show on Friday to celebrate the release of her new album Caution, talk about the comeback of the 17-year-old Glitter soundtrack, and take the stage with Ty Dolla $ign.
Carey, who performed new album cut "The Distance", breezed through the first few verses before being joined on stage by the track's featured artist, Ty Dolla $ign. The icon - and undisputed Queen of the Holidays - would later sit down with Fallon to talk about the right time to start listening to "All I Want for Christmas Is You", among other favorites. "I have this rule where I try to get through Thanksgiving," Carey said. "I don’t like when people rush it, because once I start I don’t stop until after New Year’s."
Most recently, a #JusticeForGlitter hashtag started up on social media, which helped push the film's soundtrack to the top spot on iTunes, which Carey also talked about.
“Actually #JusticeForGlitter was directed at me because I never do songs from that soundtrack,” she explained. “It was a tough time when it came out, it was a whole thing, a drama I don’t want to get into because it will change the mood… The fact that Glitter even came back is a thing, it’s a thing.”
