Brandon Moore a.k.a. Young Busco, the 31-year-old Bay Area comedian who created the viral "What are those?" clip in 2015, has reportedly died.
"What are those?" stemmed from footage Busco recorded during an interaction with police in 2015. The excerpt was streamed nearly 38 million times on Vine alone after it was uploaded to by user A-RODney King, and joined "yeet" and "on fleek" in the pantheon of catchphrases and slang popularized by Vine videos.
Such was the reach of Busco's phrase that it was even incorporated as a gag in the Marvel superhero blockbuster Black Panther. By this time, however, Busco had grown tired of the meme as it reminded him of missed opportunities to build his brand. "I feel good I created something that’ll be with the world forever, but then I feel bad because I didn’t handle my business part correctly," he told the Huffington Post.
In recent years, Busco continued sharing comedy videos on his Instagram page.
