Surviving R. Kelly documentary screening evacuated after apparent gun threats
The screening was evacuated and postponed after an anonymous caller threatened to begin shooting at the event if it continued.
A screening of Lifetime's upcoming Surviving R. Kelly documentary in New York was evacuated on Tuesday night after a number of gun threats were called in anonymously.
CNN reports that the screening — which took place at the NeueHouse Madison Square — was canceled after the theater management received a "threatening phone call" which claimed that there would be a person in the theater who would begin shooting if the screening continued.
A spokesperson for the NeueHouse Madison Square said that although they believed it was a non-credible threat, they ultimately decided to postpone the event. Surviving R. Kelly is set to air on Lifetime on January 3, 4, and 5.
