MHD has been arrested and charged in connection to a murder, the Guardian reports.
Local police arrested the French rap star — real name Mohamed Sylla — on charges of voluntary manslaughter for the murder of a 23-year-old named Loïc K. The incident occurred last summer in the North East section of Paris; the victim was reportedly stabbed and beaten by over a dozen individuals. Sylla's car was allegedly spotted at the scene of the crime.
French news publication Le Monde reports that MHD — through his lawyers — has said that he "denies any involvement in the incident," and that “his presence at the scene of the crime has not been proven.”
A rep for MHD was not immediately available to comment.
