Boots Riley has signed on for his second film, The Wrap reports. Though there aren't yet many details regarding the project, the site reports that Riley recently signed a blind script deal with Annapurna, the production company behind films such as If Beale Street Could Talk, Phantom Thread, 20th Century Women and Detroit. The movie will follow his directorial debut, the bizarre and glorious Sorry To Bother You, which hit theaters in summer 2018.
Riley recently addressed the lack of award nominations for the film, saying that he didn't campaign for the Academy to acknowledge it. "We didn't buy For Your Consideration ads in the trade magazines and we didn't service the whole academy with screeners," he tweeted. "Not doing that made it a self-fulfilling prophecy that we wouldn't get nominated."
