Ray BLK shares powerful “Paradise” video
Watch the U.K. singer’s moving new visuals.
Emotionally speaking, "Paradise" is one of the heavier songs on Ray BLK's excellent 2018 release Empress. It was written after the loss of a friend and BLK uses her sharp lyrical skills to pinpoint that feeling of loss in a way that feels both specific to her own experience, as well as translating to anyone that has gone through something similar. It's a contemplative song but one that runs strong with hope and the desire to "meet again, where the streets paved of gold."
Today she shares a touching video for "Paradise." Filmed in black and white with her live band and orchestra on a London estate, the "Paradise" video cuts between the emotive performance of the song and touching images of the local community.
Speaking to The FADER via email, Ray BLK said: "The song is dedicated to my dear friend who I lost to cancer and to anybody who has lost someone. I wrote it as a way to find peace and comfort with the idea of death during my friend's illness and hope it helps give peace to anyone who is mourning.
