TR/ST’s new song “Unbleached” is industrial-rave perfection
Hear a new single from TR/ST’s upcoming two-part album The Destroyer.
Robert Alfons's TR/ST used to be a duo: when the techno goth-pop project debuted in 2012, Alfons stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Maya Postepski, drummer in fellow Toronto electronic act Austra. After taking the project solo for 2014's Joyland, Alfons and Postepski are back together once more on "Unbleached," premiering today on The FADER.
Throughout its discography, TR/ST has cultivated a distinct and imitable sound: industrial and seedy yet as radiant as strobe lights, with a voice that sounds like Vincent Price's undead grandson. It's good to hear some new music, and Alfons is excited to return, too. "So happy to share the first collab song that me and Maya wrote for the album," he wrote in an email. "This was a ode to the sound of the rats running in the roof!"
Part one of TR/ST's new album The Destroyer is out April 19, with part two on the way this November. Check out the "Unbleached" cover art below, followed by dates for TR/ST's upcoming world tour.
