The undisputed highlight of the Met Gala each year is the procession of celebrities on the red carpet showing off their best sides and styles. 2019 promises to be one of the most outlandish years yet, thanks to its theme Camp: Notes on Fashion. The title is based on an essay written in 1964 by Susan Sontag, who partially defines "camp" thusly: "Camp is the consistently aesthetic experience of the world. It incarnates a victory of 'style' over 'content,' 'aesthetics' over 'morality,' of irony over tragedy." This year's event is hosted by Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, and Serena Williams. Gags, who kicked off the event, seemingly had a Mary Poppins-like aresenal of outfits, going from poofy princess dress to body-con dress Barbie in what felt like a matter of minutes.
