On May 11, Kodak Black was arrested just before his scheduled performance at Rolling Loud Miami on weapons charges. The rapper is accused by federal authorities of lying twice on forms for a recent gun purchase, according to The Miami Herald. Federal prosecutors will reportedly seek to keep Black incarcerated as he awaits trial on the charges.
Black, who also faces sexual assault charges in South Carolina, reportedly checked "No" next to a box asking if he is currently under indictment. The form also asks if there is “information in any court” for felonies that could result in a prison sentence of over one year. Black's felony record prevents him from legally obtaining a firearm. However, the rapper's attorney Bradley Cohen claims Black misunderstood the gun purchase forms known as a Firearms Transaction Record. “In general, I think some of these legal terms are misleading,” Cohen told the Herald.
Black was arrested on April 18 on gun and drug charges as he attempted to enter the United States from Canada.
