Hamzaa recalls a blissful youth and dreams of a brighter future on her triumphant new single, "London." Looking back to the days she felt "safe, young, and free," the rising U.K. singer reaons that adult life in a city where "tensions overflow on the underground" is more complicated. Showcasing her truly impressive vocals and lifting the song to anthemic levels, "London" is a regional song that will resonate worldwide.
The video, premiering above, was filmed around Hamzaa's home in east London and stars a host of her friends, including Gal-Dem founder Liv Little, Rachel Chinouriri, and Queenie author Candice Carty-Williams, alongside family members.
Speaking to The FADER via email, Hamzaa said: “I wrote a song about my city, my London. I love this place and I’m so happy I get to share that with the world. I feel like now more than ever huge changes are happening across the city and we may not like it all, but the people, the energy, the lifestyle, and the culture is what makes this place home. I’m sure you feel the same way about where you’re from, wherever you’re from.”
