Channel Tres is still a newcomer but he's already so comfortable in his west coast electronic sound it practically belongs to him. "Sexy Black Timberlake" follows on from the laid-back yet propulsive beats of his 2018 breakout "Controller," and sees him playfully toying with stereotypes about his race and masculinity.
The video for "Sexy Black Timberlake," premiering above, was filmed around Channel's native South Central and feature a holy trinity of vintage Mercedes', moustache stroking, and dancing to house music.
Speaking about his new song, the first to be taken from new EP Black Moses, Channel told The FADER: "As a black male I’ve experienced being vilified or objectified depending on what I was wearing or what I was doing. 'Sexy Black Timberlake' is me being objectified as a sex object for my skin color. The production was inspired by The Chronic mixed with the west coast dance music I’ve been creating."
