The life and career of Bushwick Bill of The Geto Boys, who died on Sunday, was memorialized last night in a charming news segment courtesy of WSBTV's Mark Arum and Fred Blankenship. The two news anchors give a local traffic report interpolated with lyrics from some of Bill's hits like "Mind Playing Tricks On Me," "Ever So Clear," "Little Big Man," "Copper To Cash" and "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta." Perhaps my favorite line: "Givin' it to you straight from the heart of the streets, checking the 575 out of Cherokee and Cobb County." It's fluffy, yes, but small moments like this can articulate the strength and reach of Bill's cultural contributions. Watch above, and read our memorial of Bushwick Bill here.
