Over 300,000 sign #JusticeForRocky petition
A change.org petition in support of A$AP Rocky has been backed by artists including Post Malone and YG.
Supporters and friends of A$AP Rocky have rallied togethern in a bid to see him released from jail in Sweden. A Change.org petition has been started in hope of setting the rapper free as he awaits trial on an assault charge in Stockholm. At the time of writing over 330,000 people have signed the petition, which has been circulated by Rocky's own A$AP Mob.
The petition claims that Rocky has been denied his right to counsel since entering the jail and that officials are keen to keep him behind bars until August, when he would face trial. It is also claimed that the rapper is being kept in "24/7 solitary confinement" with a "restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions."
Many big name artists, including A$AP Ferg, Post Malone, Miguel, Lil Yachty, and YG, have posted about the petition on social media.
Rocky was arrested on suspicion of assault alongside two members of his entourage and a security guard on Tuesday, July 2 following an alleged incident with two men. The security guard was released later that week.
It was reported that the two alleged victims had accused Rocky of breaking a pair of headphones belonging to them. Video footage showed a physical altercation between both sides. Responding to that video footage shared by TMZ, Rocky accused the men of being "drug addicts" and shared his own video of the incident on social media.
Since his arrest Rocky has had to cancel festival performances across Europe and the U.K.
