Toronto-based artist Ruben Young has officially dropped the visuals for his single "Subtle Savage," a neo-soul tinged track that features fellow Toronto native Terrell Morris and finds the pair lamenting all of the ways a relationship can go wrong. The song's classic-sounding production pairs perfectly with its hazy video.
"I should have known better / that she was dangerous shit," Young self-scolds on the track. The clip plays out somewhat like a psychological thriller, starting with Young chained up and visited by a femme fatale before she goes on to find a new victim, and even features a nod to the infamous tea-stirring scene in Get Out.
The single is the first from Young's upcoming Dreamstate EP.
