Cardi B, the progressive champion who last year told GQ that Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal policies made him "the real 'Make America Great,'" praised Bernie Sanders last night on Twitter and said that she felt "sad" about the outcome of the 2016 Democratic primaries.
"I been reading about Bernie Sanders and I’m really sad how we let him down in 2016," Cardi wrote. "This man been fighting for equal rights, HUMAN rights for such along time. Seeing this country become a better place been really his passion for a long time not a new front for a campaign."

Among the usual litany of replies to Cardi's missive — everything from scattergun viciousness to two-word tweets like "comrade cardi" — was one Twitter user who wondered how Cardi had so quickly moved from expressing outrage at the government's ability to tax her to supporting a Democratic Socialist like Sanders. Cardi was down for a conversation:
I don’t mind paying taxes if I see on what am I paying my taxes on.Its sad that we pay so much taxes yet we don’t have free college education neither free healthcare . https://t.co/i4Zi4eSYgP

This isn't the first time that Cardi and Bernie have publicly agreed with each other. After that GQ interview in 2018, Sanders tweeted out the immortal words “Cardi B is right."
There are somehow still 475 days until the election.
