Houston rapper (and FADER cover star) Megan Thee Stallion is in the process of trademarking the phrase ‘Hot Girl Summer’, Billboard reports. The phrase has blown up over the past few weeks, becoming a common phrase used by Megan’s fans (‘Hotties’) and *shudders* brands, with corporate Twitter accounts such as Forever 21 and Wendy’s using the phrase.
Megan filed the trademark for ‘Hot Girl Summer’ to be used on merchandise such as hoodies and tshirts on July 10th; earlier that day, she told a fan that she was “in the process” of doing so. Megan coined the term ‘Hot Girl Summer’ after conceptualising her Hot Girl Meg alter ego, the main character of her debut album Fever.
