Richard Dawson sheds the world’s weight in the “Jogging” video
The English singer-songwriter’s new album 2020 is out October 11, 2019.
"Jogging," the new song and music video from Newcastle's Richard Dawson, reminds me of this comic by Gabby Schulz. Dawson's song isn't so hopeless, but a strong sense of despair and desire to change the subject pervades both. The first single from Dawson's upcoming album 2020, "Jogging" is an occasionally sludgy rock epic with bone-dry, diaristic lyrics from Dawson, who gives a document of a bourgeois life unable to shake the feeling of looming catastrophe. It's unpretentious, cinematic, and moving. The song's video, directed by Edwin Burdis, stars Dawson and films him partaking in the titular activity. Watch above.
