After premiering at Sundance earlier this year, the first trailer for Honey Boy — Shia LaBeouf's new movie starring FKA twigs — has arrived. The Alma Har'el-directed film, for which LaBeouf wrote the screenplay, will portray "a young actor's stormy childhood and early adult years as he struggles to reconcile with his father and deal with his mental health." It draws from LaBeouf's own experiences as a child actor — he'll play the role of his own father, while Noah Jupe and Lucas Hedges play a fictionalized LaBeouf (named Otis). Twigs will play "neighbor and kindred spirit to the younger Otis in their garden-court motel home."
Honey Boy will mark Twigs' first major movie role. Earlier this year, she returned with her first single in years, "Cellophane," a release that was punctuated by a series of phenomenal live performances titled Magdalene. Read our review of those shows here while we eagerly await her new music.
Honey Boy is out November 8 via Amazon Studios.
