A new Dave Chappelle special, Sticks & Stones, is coming to Netflix. The stand-up announced the August 26 arrival of his latest hour on Thursday with a trailer featuring the voice of Morgan Freeman. Check it out above.
The trailer shows Chappelle in the desert while Freeman delivers one of his typically emotive voice overs. “This is Dave. He tells jokes for a living. Hopefully he makes people laugh,” Freeman says. “But, these days it’s a high stakes game. How did we get here, I wonder? I don’t mean that metaphorically, I’m really asking. How did Dave get here? I mean, what the fuck is this?”
Freeman's speech suggests Chappelle's new special will, once again, push against the idea of political correctness in comedy when he states: "I guess what I’m trying to say is, if you say anything, you risk everything. But, if that’s the way it’s got to be, fine. Fuck it. He’s back, folks.”
Dave Chappelle: Sticks & Stones is Chappelle's fifth Netflix special following a rumored $60M deal he signed with the streaming giant in 2017.
