Though 2021 seems a long way off, the deal is still a coup for Netflix — and it could hardly come at a better time. They've lost two big sitcoms lately, with Friends departing Netflix for WarnerMedia’s upcoming HBO Max platform and The Office moving to its new home on NBCUniversal's own streaming service. They were in danger of running out of shows you've seen a dozen times but still put on every time you get high.
“Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement via the Los Angeles Times. “It is as fresh and funny as ever and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time.”
