Report: Dozens of fan-made Taylor Swift bootlegs uploaded to Spotify [UPDATE]
The songs, uploaded as podcast episodes, do not appear to be sanctioned by Swift’s team.
Update, Saturday, September 28, 10:55 AM: The songs have since been taken down.
Original story: Dozens of Taylor Swift bootlegs have been uploaded to Spotify overnight. The songs have been uploaded as individual files in the podcast section of Spotify, rather than the music section; many of the songs themselves appear to be isolated vocals ripped from Swift’s Lover that have been placed over newly-made acoustic instrumentals. The Taylor Swift fan account TSwiftNZ lists these as “fan-made versions”; The FADER has contacted the account for clarity.
In addition, various fan-made live bootlegs have been uploaded to the service from the Reputation, Red and 1989 stadium tours. Screenshots of the podcast episodes are embedded below. It is unclear as to whether these uploads were sanctioned by Swift’s team. Two voice memos from Lover, featuring Swift detailing the recording of "Lover" and "I Forgot That You Existed" have also been uploaded. As of 4:23AM ET, Friday 27th September, the bootlegs are still on Spotify.
The FADER has reached out to representatives for Spotify and Taylor Swift for comment. This story will be updated in the event of their response.
