The Walking Dead renewed for an 11th season
Showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement at Comic-Con.
AMC's zombie apocalypse saga The Walking Dead has officially been renewed for an 11th season, according to the The Hollywood Reporter. Series showrunner Angela Kang made the announcement at New York Comic-Con, where it was also confirmed that Lauren Cohan will reprise her role as Maggie Green, last seen in season 9.
"It's completely surreal," Cohan said onstage at the event. "It feels just like home. It feels so emotional. It feels really, really emotional. I feel like this is a very special Comic-Con and a very special family and I'm really happy to be here."
With season 10 premiering this weekend, the show's story is currently based on one of the final storylines from the comics, The Whisper War. This may signal that the end of the series is close at hand, with no word on whether or not the show will continue beyond the scope of the comics.
Season 10 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 6 on AMC.
