One of the benefits of Kenny Beats's show The Cave, in which the highly-favored producer creates a beat from scratch and has a rapper freestyle over it, is how it offers a peek at the processes behind music production. Danny Brown is the show's latest guest, following episodes with Rico Nasty, Denzel Curry, Freddie Gibbs, Vince Staples, and of course, Zack Fox. That session gave us "Jesus Is The One (I Got Depression)," and Brown's episode is almost as funny but with much better rapping.
While Kenny constructs the beat, Brown talks about the importance of taking his time on his craft. "I have to put love and care into these songs," he says of his newest album uknowhatimsayin¿. "I wake up at 6 in the morning, listen to them every day... I'm not in the not-age-well business. We're not doing that with Danny Brown's shit. That shit is fine wine." He also talks about a brush with death that was averted by his friend Pootie Tang. Watch above.
