Before Mereba performed "dodging the devil," she offered some context for the song. "This next one is actually a poem that I wrote in a particular time in my life, where it just felt like nothing was going right," she said. "The more I tried to force it, the more stuff was out of order. It was a really discouraging time in my life and inspired my album."
