U.K. rapper Headie One sentenced to six months in prison

The drill MC was charged with possession of a bladed article following an arrest in June 2019.

British rapper Headie One has been sentenced to six months in prison for possession of a bladed article. The U.K. drill artist was sentenced to the prison term at Wood Green Crown Court in London on Friday, January 3 a spokesperson for the court confirmed to The FADER. The charge follows Headie One's, real name Irving Adjei, arrest in June 2019 after police discovered a lock knife when his car was stopped and searched.

At the time of his original arrest in 2019 The Sun newspaper reported that he was bailed in order to perform at the Glastonbury and Wireless festivals. Appearing at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on June 27 he entered a not guilty plea to the bladed article offence.

Headie One enjoyed a breakout year in 2019 releasing his own Music x Road mixtape plus Drillers x Trappers II, a collaborative project with fellow north London MC RV. Music x Road features collaborations with both Dave and Skepta. He also appeared on "Audacity," a track taken from Stormzy's Heavy Is The Head album.
