The Cook County Medical Examiner has determined that Juice WRLD's death resulted from an accidental overdose of oxycodine and codeine, according to a report in The Chicago Tribune. The full autopsy and toxicology report could be released to the public on Thursday.
The rapper, born Jarad A. Higgins, was detained at Chicago's Midway Airport on December 8 after police were tipped off to the possible presence of drugs and guns. The rapper began convulsing as his private plane was searched, and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Sources told TMZ it is believed Juice WRLD swallowed a large number of Percocet pills in order to avoid them from being discovered by police.
In the weeks after Juice WRLD's passing, his death was mourned by his legions of collaborators and fans. Both of his albums, Goodbye & Good Riddance and last year's Death Race For Love, returned to the Billboard 200 album chart. His planned set at Rolling Loud was replaced with a tribute featuring G Herbo, A Boogie, and more.
