On her debut album Everyday Nothing, London-based singer/songwriter Brooke Bentham shows an impressive versatility when it comes to evoking various strains of indie rock past and present — all with a rawness present in her vocals that sets her apart from everyone in her field. The album's out February 28 via AllPoints, and we've got the latest single, "Control," for you to check out below.

"Control" takes on a distinctly grunge-y flavor, but despite its distant evocations, the song's thematic trappings are extremely modern. "'Control' is about 2020 paranoia," Bentham told the FADER in an email. "I think the more time we’ve had with the internet, the more of ourselves we give away and so the more people can chip away at you. I wrote it when someone had blocked me out, and not said anything to me. All I could do was overthink it. I couldn’t talk to them about it. I loved turning that romantic sentiment 'Can’t get you out of my head’ into this total non-romantic paranoia. I think it was more about me than that person, because it got to me so much."
