After a triumphant 2019 in which she released her critically adored album Remind Me Tomorrow, Sharon Van Etten is keeping the streak going with another great new song called "Beaten Down." The gently psych-anthemic song is "about love, patience and empathy," Van Etten said in a statement. "[It's] about making life-changing choices and remaining strong enough to see them through." The black-and-white video is directed by Nicky and Juliana Giraffe, who enlist a horse, twin dancers Allison and Veronica Huber, and some very visually striking outfits for one memorable and obliquely moving set of visuals.
