Tory Lanez links up with NGHTMRE on the buoyant “Wrist”
The latest hip-hop crossover from dance producer NGHTMRE is his most seamless yet.
Los Angeles-based dance producer NGHTMRE has been reaching across the aisle to hip-hop for the past five years, releasing tracks with A$AP Ferg, Gunna, and (this one was admittedly a little left-field for 2019) Lil Jon and Shaquille O'Neal. Today he's keeping that streak going, premiering another crossover track, "Wrist" featuring the unimpeachable Toronto star Tory Lanez, on The FADER. This one fits more comfortably in the rap landscape than anything NGHTMRE has released so far, a moody trap track with grimey strings in the background and a lick of EDM energy to keep things lively. Lanez, as good as anyone around at building melody from little more than a suggestion, bounds over the beat, bragging about what you'd expect: "Diamonds on my fingers singing like a flute."
"It’s no secret Tory is one of the hottest dudes in hip-hop right now," NGHTMRE wrote in an email to The FADER. "Getting to sit in the studio and watch him create was really special. This record is really upbeat and fits in with both our styles nicely. Much love to Tory and the entire team for helping this one come together!”
