Jordana sets validation ablaze on her new single “Crunch”
Hear a new offering from the Wichita artist’s debut album, Classical Notions of Happiness.
Wichita-based singer-songwriter Jordana crafts bedroom pop that sticks to your ribs. On her debut album Classical Notions of Happiness (re-releasing on Grand Jury this March) she cycles through various coping mechanisms with tenacious curiosity. Toward the end of the record, she sets a pervasive need for validation ablaze with "Crunch," her most aggressive work to date — the kind of song that might compel you to throw your iPhone into traffic. The POND-directed video, premiering below, doubles down on all the fuzz with some rapid-fire VHS footage.
"'Crunch' is a feeling of an overbearing want for validation from someone and getting the cold shoulder from them," Jordana wrote in an email to The FADER. "The song starts out with the confidence in knowing this person could possibly notice you, and ends in anger and frustration seeing that they ignored you, established by a distorted guitar solo."
Watch "Crunch," and peep Jordana's forthcoming tour dates with TV Girl, below. Classical Notions of Happiness is due out March 27 via Grand Jury.
