On February 7 of this year, the unthinkable happened: Jay Electronica, the beloved and barely heard-from rapper and producer who stunned with his debut mixtape Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge) back in 2007, announced that his debut album A Written Testimony was done and ready for release. The news was taken with a healthy dose of skepticism: Electronica has released a mere six songs since Eternal Sunshine, and only eighteen guest appearances — an average of less than two a year.
But against all odds, it seems that Electronica is truly ready to release A Written Testimony, a fact evidenced by the news that TIDAL has announced listening sessions of the album due to take place this month in New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans. “It’s time,” the streaming service announced on Twitter, “We’re giving Jay Electronica fans an exclusive first listen of his album A Written Testimony with 3 intimate events.” RSVP to the events here, and view the tweet below.
