Aluna Francis, formerly of electronic R&B duo AlunaGeorge, has announced her debut solo album as Aluna, Renaissance. Featuring the previously released SG Lewis collab “Warrior” and “Body Pump,” Renaissance, out August 28 on Mad Decent, also features collaborations with Princess Nokia, Jada Kingdom, Rema, and Kaytranada. Today, Aluna has released the Princess Nokia/Jada Kingdom collab “Get Paid,” along with a fun animated lyric video.
“[‘Get Paid’] is aspirational, because Black women and people of color need to get paid,” Aluna said of the track. “It’s also about what happens when you are not paid for centuries … you don’t even believe it’s okay to get paid. It’s an aspirational celebration of allowing yourself to be paid.” Listen to “Get Paid” above.
