Taylor Swift released her eighth studio album folklore overnight alongside a video for lead single "cardigan." The album was recorded in isolation with Swift explaining in a statement that "Before this year I probably would've overthought when to release this music at the 'perfect' time, but the times we're living in keep reminding me that nothing is guaranteed."

The album's woodsy aesthetic is matched by a raft of collaborators better known for working in indie rock circles. Aaron Dessner of The National played a key role in crafting the record and is credited with co-writing or producing 11 of the 16 songs alongside Swift. Other names credited on the album have worked with Dessner before, including brother and bandmate Bryce, who provided orchestration on tracks including "the 1" and "mad woman."

Elsewhere Bon Iver's Justin Vernon appears on "exile" and "peace." Swift's go-to producer Jack Antonoff, who has worked with her since 2014's 1989, is also credited on multiple songs.
