Anyone who's listened to FAUZIA's Friday night show on NTS knows that the East London-based DJ approaches club music from a unique angle. She has an unparalleled understanding of house, techno, and jungle, from Chicago to London and far beyond. But she slides into downtempo and ambient interludes with little warning — and her hour-long dive into Somalian music from May was spectacular in its own right.
She debuted as a producer earlier this year, releasing the Once Upon a Production mix for the revered Discwoman collective, and now she's taking another step forward with her own sounds. The four-track are you hoping for a miracle? EP is out tomorrow (exclusively via Bandcamp, who are once again waiving their fees for the day), and the first single from the project "A Different Time," featuring vocals from George Riley, is premiering below. FAUZIA's production is once again assured, thrillingly near-atonal at first but perfectly restrained throughout, allowing Riley to spread out across the mix. Listen to "A Different Time" below and download are you hoping for a miracle?, which also features a brilliant collaboration with Kelela, via Bandcamp tomorrow.
