Post Malone's collaboration with Pokémon to celebrate the gaming franchise's 25th anniversary was announced this month, and I'll be the first to admit that I found the pairing more amusing than sensible. However, I'm reconsidering my position with the release of Malone's cover of "Only Wanna Be With You," the massive and '90s defining hit by Hootie and the Blowfish. I get it now, I think — Malone delivers a blast of acoustic guitar-driven sincerity appropriate for a cover performed with a children's media conglomerate in mind, and the chiptune-y synths are a nice flourish.
