JAWNY has shared a video for new song "Take It Back." The video, premiering exclusively above, shows the songwriter rocking out on the back of a trash truck. It's the first release from his next project, The Story Of Hugo, set for release on July 15.
"Take It Back," a dude's rock anthem-in-waiting, is built around a jacked riff and baggy verses reminiscent of '90s Beck. Brash, a little spiteful, and wholly unapologetic it's the sound of a newly single guy crashing on his friend's couch and starting life over again.
Speaking to The FADER via email, JAWNY explained a little about the inspiration behind the track. "I probably listened to this song 250 times before I officially turned everything into the label for release," he said. "I tried to dance on the line between acceptance and anger, 'If she never loved me then I’m better off alone' seemed like a mantra for self-worth."
The Story of Hugo tracklist:
