Cardi B and Lizzo team up on “Rumors”
Lizzo’s first single since 2019 is a witty, fun-as-hell collaboration with Cardi B.
Lizzo has released her first new song since 2019, and it's a total doozy: "Rumors" is a fun-as-hell Cardi B collaboration that plays on Lizzo's newfound superstardom with a sly, cheeky wit. "No I ain't fucked Drake yet!" she raps in the song's very first verse, "If you thought that I was ratchet with my ass hangin' out/Just wait until the summer when they let me out the house, bitch!" It is — and I don't use this word lightly — iconic. Cardi doesn't let her verse go to waste either, referencing her many hits, her plastic surgery, and, of course, the time the FCC sued her. (Interestingly, although Lizzo says "Cardi" in the song, the lyrics posted in the description of the audio-only version of the track include the line "Now me and Sza, we cool yeah", perhaps a holdover from a previous, SZA-featuring version of the track.)
