Toronto-born, Los Angeles-based artist Idman is no stranger to making bold statements. Following her single "Down For It" and its arresting visuals earlier this year, her latest single, "Polytics," is a sultry pop ode to exploring dating's often chaotic landscape and finding love on your own terms. "Messy, messy, messy / I'm probably poly," she coos over bass-heavy production.
"This song is a conversation with the one person we can always hold accountable 100% of the time — ourselves," Idman says of the track. "It's not how or the way in which we love that is the most complex thing — it's the love itself. Who? What? Where? And how? It’s all arbitrary. Love itself is universally difficult, complex, and especially in 2021, challenging af to navigate."
With its visuals taking place in a retro love fever dream, it focuses on the simplicity of the things we often make complicated. the song is set to appear on her forthcoming debut EP, Risk, dropping in early 2022.
