LAUNDRY DAY, a five-piece, Manhattan-based pop quintet, have shared a new live performance of their latest single, "Connect 5," recorded at the legendary Diamond Mine, a Queens studio co-owned by iconic soul groups The Dap Kings and The Expressions.
The five members of LAUNDRY DAY met as teens while attending The Beacon School in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Together, they've released three full-length albums and two EPs in the past four years. Whereas the first studio cut of "Connect 5" was a relatively straightforward pop track, the group takes inspiration from Diamond Mine's history on the live version to create a refreshingly soulful rendition.
"We wanted to explore the versatility within the chords, melody, and lyrics by serving up a whole different mood, groove, and recording process to challenge and excite ourselves," the band said in a statement on the eve of the new recording's release.
